i believe in fairies

Are you following along on the authentique & maya road promo? then you're in the right place!

after you check out the inspiration here on the authentique paper blog today, be sure to head on over to the Maya Road blog to find out what the talented members of the maya road design team have created.

today's project was inspired by my fascination with "the world of arrietty" and my love of fairies.

i believe, do you?

i started with the 3x3 canvas coaster album from maya road and a collection of glimmer mists.

the fairies were created with different papers from authentique and chipboard dress forms from maya road. each fairy is dressed from a different paper collection.
there is a tiny bit of crackle paint and ink on each dress form base and head.
and many "missing" items from my house have magically appeared here in this mini book ...

keepsake fairy is dressed with "carefree" paper and her wings used
chunky elements embossing powder.
we can never find our keys at our house...

stitching fairy created a dress with a bit of my "delightful" paper.
just like a true "borrrower", little bits and pieces from my craft drawer,
including some of my maya road "sew cute" minis have appeared here.

spring fairy has faux grass, maya road leaf trinket pins and flocked wings.
she borrowed her dress material from a sheet of my "free bird" nest.

seaside fairy is dressed with glittering wings to go with her "splendid" dress.
in her travels she has gathered shells and ocean treasures.

knick knack fairy "borrowed" all of our watch gears.
she's obsessed with time, and with my "splendid" paper.

i hope this tiny book has inspired you with big ideas. be sure to stop by the authentique and maya road pages today, and visit tomorrow for more authentique inspiration!

bon ton mini album

welcome gypsies!
i learned a very important lesson this past week - mochas and crafting do...not...mix...
long story short is that i had my project all laid out on my table, reached for my new hot mocha and *tip* over it went. wiped out the entire table's worth of project - paper, ribbons, embellishments. on the up side, it did create a really cool "staining" on my old book pages that i planned on using. and the pieces that did survive had a lovely coffee scent.

so after a temper tantrum, some creative swearing and a trip back to the scrapbook store, i was back at work. and the new mocha sat in exile on a different table until i was finished.

the result was this little gem for my scrapbook island design team project. c'est sweet! the entire book is made with "french kiss" from glitz. inspired by their new layering papers, i tried lots of ... well, layering. i loved the results and hope you do too.

thanks for stopping by the caravan! make sure you visit this week as the gypsy caravans along with authentique & maya road on our special cross-promo week! i'll be posting a very special project on wed so make sure to stop by!

celebrating you

hello gypsies! while i was going through some boxes i found this photo - my little gal was 4 months or so, and we took this for my husband's first father's day. my daughter turns 11 today - the "double toothpick" birthday, so i wanted to make something to "celebrate".

this is actually a canvas that is trimmed out with a ruffle made from old book pages, then covered with a page from our "celebrate" collection.
i used maya roads' canvas pennants to create the banner, edging each pennant with distress ink and stringing them together with martha stewart's "glitter eyelash" in sparkly red.

i wanted to add some dimension and sparkle to the hot air balloons, so i cut extras out of another sheet of paper, then traced the lines with glossy accent and glittered them with martha stewart's crystal fine glitter. using the glossy accent gave it almost an embossed look.

some little elements from the collection, martha stewart's "glitter eyelash" in sparkle red, paired with little bits of this and that finish it off.

thank you for stopping by authentique today, and i hope you leave inspired and ready to celebrate a little something of your own!
